Arne Zabell has worked for the betterment of rural communities for most of his life. He gained experience in community deployment systems as a Combat Engineer for eleven years in the Canadian Army Special Service Force Airborne.

In his retirement he has held several positions in wide and varied fields from service attendant to executive vice president of a 150 employee contracting company where he gained experience in road and community infrastructure projects.

As a resident of Sunshine Valley outside of Hope, BC, Arne was elected to two terms as Area B Director for the Fraser Valley Regional District. From 2002 to 2008 Arne worked tirelessly on local and province-wide issues that would help rural communities. His Electoral Area encompasses a number of First Nations Bands and he gained considerable experience working within partnerships. He chaired the Fraser Valley Treaty Advisory committee representing local government interests and was instrumental in securing a Community Forest agreement.

Arne is a founding director of the Cascadia Conservancy and serves as a specialist in helping communities, organizations and businesses navigate capacity issues and negotiations with Provincial and Federal Governments.
The Cascadia Conservancy promotes a healthy and sustainable environment for rural British Columbia. The Conservancy promotes conservation and stewardship principles which link the protection and enhancement of natural eco-systems with human settlement that includes a vibrant local economy.
